It’s enough to make a cat laugh. In a fast–food shop in HaTikva, a working-class suburb of south Tel Aviv where many ‘asylum seekers’, mainly from South Sudan and Eritrea have settled, you can get ‘grilled kushi’ which translates as ‘grilled blacks’. According to this week’s ‘Economist’ magazine, the chef of this establishment thinks that these settlers should be got rid of by throwing grenades at their tenements.
Such ideas may not be simply wild rhetoric, mere exaggerations for effect, in these parts. According to the ‘Guardian’ (24th May) in recent weeks there have been firebombings of several homes and a kindergarten for Africans.
There are a rising number of attacks on blacks. Hundreds of Jews, led by settlers from the West Bank where the Palestinians hope to establish their state, marched through the streets of South Tel Aviv chanting ‘Africans out!’ There were also protests in Eilat, Ashdod, Ashkelon and Bnei Brak. Rubbish bins set alight, fireworks were thrown and dozens of Blacks were assaulted. There were nine arrests.
The Globe Theatre in Southwark on the South Bank of the Thames is of course a reconstruction of a theatre that saw the original performances of Shakespeare’s plays. It is as accurate as possible, right down to the tiniest detail.
The plays put on there are also produced in the style of Shakespeare’s day. The costumes the actors wear are those that Shakespearean players, including Shakespeare himself might have worn.
However, when the Chamberlain was called for in a production Henry IV Part 1, shown on Sky Arts on Sunday last, on to the stage appeared a black man. Imagine a negro costumed in Elizabethan gear and spouting Shakespearian language in surroundings as true to the period as possible. The anachronistic incongruity of this was breathtaking.
So what will the multicultural, multiracial Britain of the future be like – if the native people of the country don’t wake up to what’s happening to them?
There are those who think that race / ethnicity doesn’t matter in this country any more. They think this, one supposes, because they imagine that race doesn’t matter to them and impute their own apparent feelings to others, seeing what they want to see. But although the native British get along with other races to a remarkable degree, their deeper feelings are manifest in where and with whom they want to live.

Whole towns and cities are becoming dominated by certain ethnicities. Leicester is now a majority Asian / Moslem city (51% Asian and growing). About 20% of the population of the Bradford area is muslim and there are significant and rapidly expanding Asian and other ethnic populations in towns and cities across the country.

Nationalist solutions are ‘Snake – Oil Solutions’ according to Ian Birrell in the Daily Mail (April 24th). As this country and the West in general tries to struggle out of the rubble left by the collapse of the liberal dream of an ever–closer globalised world economy, this remark would be comic were it not so stupidly biased.
In its reliance on imaginary money, the present government is a bit like Adolph Hitler in the last stages of WW11, shifting imaginary tank divisions around to defend Berlin. Could a Nationalist Government do anything economically, however inept, which would be worse than what has befallen this country at hands of its present political class?
One can't imagine the culturally Marxist BBC ever devoting a programme lasting an hour on Radio 4 to some far–right historian. The chances of David Irving, for example, being given such an opportunity, are nil.
Would the BBC ever celebrate the life of an academic apologist for the Nazis who justified his support for the extermination of millions of leftists, jews, homosexuals, Freemasons, gypsies and others? Hell would freeze over first.
Yet, like it or not, the paying public were this week treated to an hour of 'Eric Hobsbawm, a Life in History'. Hobsbawm is a man who has publicly proclaimed his support for the extermination of millions of 'class enemies' in the Soviet Union.
The emphasis in the current era amongst the political / chattering classes is on ‘Equality’. Equality of esteem is necessary for an ‘individualistic’ society and the ‘celebration of diversity’. Equality-linked individualism can be summed up in the words; ‘do your own thing and don’t be judgemental’. Of course, this ideal is completely impractical in the real world. A society cannot survive without shared standards of morality and ways of life. Without these it ceases to be a society in all but name. Furthermore, people have a natural tendency to wish to associate with others who share these things; who are like themselves in this and in other ways.
‘Individualists’ are Conformists
Even those who pride themselves on their individualism tend to be individualistic in the same way. They wear the same kinds of clothes, listen to the same kinds of music, watch the same TV shows, read the same kinds of magazines and books, have the same kinds of attitudes to culture, even live in the same kind of areas along with others of the same ilk (Notting Hill, for example, or Hampstead, Islington and Camden); and so on. All this is so obvious that it should be scarcely worth saying. But apparently it needs to be said. For those in power want us to be similar only in our individualism - a piece of sophistry which will escape most people.
