Every Minority Wins the National Lottery

A chance to win a fortune, and to benefit some good causes! - what a great idea the National Lottery was.
Clutching that ticket and looking on as your numbers don't come out yet again, it's worth glancing at some of the big winners who seem to win time after time.
Note that some of these will cross over, so some totals may contain figures already included in the others :
Searching for "refugee" returned 1,745 grants for a total of £111,105,947.
Searching "asylum" returned 999 grants totalling £66,468,673.
"Immigrant" returned 88 grants for a sum of £2,668,795.
"Somalia" sees 66 grants totalling £2,791,963.
For "Pakistan" it's 204 grants for a total of £9,155,596.
"India" is on to a winner, 1163 grants totalling £54,829,330
"Africa" returns 2554 grants totalling £82,370,854.
"Bangladesh" does very well, 528 grants totalling £37,688,453.
Searching "ethnic minority" shows 818 grants for a sum totalling £64,645,765.
"Turkish" returns 143 grants adding up to £5,310,054.
For "Jewish" it's 434 grants for a total of £15,420,412.
"Muslim" showed 177 results and a spend of £7,881,479.
Even something more obscure like "Congolese" gave 138 grants for a total of £1,641,141.
"Black" - admittedly a broad catchall so all might not be related to skin colour, but most appear to be - gives 2,664 grants for a total of £161,990,796.
"White" gives 755 grants - and so far as can be seen none of them have anything to do with white as an ethnic group, rather things like white goods.
Searching "indigenous" is interesting. 56 results totalling £5,035,830.
British indigenous? Well.....
Practical Action received £721,166 to help indigenous families in Peru.
Target Tuberculosis got £495,177 to help indigenous tribal communities in Jharkhand, India.
Allavida benefitted from a handout of £384,490 for indigenous populations of Kenyan coastal zones.
Receiving £369,763 was Action Aid. That's to help the indigenous and descendants of African slaves in the State of Maranhao, Brazil.
You get the picture. Not one British indigenous cause on there, no surprise there.
Something to think on next time you're queueing up to do your numbers and hope against hope you win - some groups are certainly winning every time you buy a ticket.
