In Praise of Veils and Burkas

After news of a veiled woman suspected of having a bomb being arrested by anti-terror police in Saltburn-by-the-Sea, near to Middlesbrough, comment posters of various newspapers and sites are - predictably - calling once more for a ban on veils, burkas, or facial coverings.
Ban them on security grounds seems to be the overwhelming cry. It's tempting, after all the face and facial expressions are a customary part of western culture, not to mention the fact that covering the face is generally associated with a criminal act.
However, such a ban would be completely the wrong thing to do and achieve absolutely nothing postive for our security or wellbeing at all.
Banning the veil really amounts to one of the most idiotic ideas possible. We can boil it down to if they look more like us then they will be more like us.
It would be an act of blind optimism and a cynical act of camouflage, nothing more. If we hammer some horseshoes on to a dog and stick a saddle and jockey on its back then is it going to win the 3:15 at Cheltenham?
Ban halal food and tell them that if they don't like it - and it is acceptable for Muslims to eat non halal if nothing else is available - then bugger off, that would be fine.
But banning the veil is an insane act which panders to the absurd idea that the integration of Islam and the West is in any way possible.
The veil is good - there's nothing like the sight of a street full of burkas and veiled women trotting a few paces behind 'Asian' males to show people the extent of our colonisation.
The veil shows everyone that they are not just like us, it's a very visible symbol of the multicultural nightmare inflicted upon our country and the British people.
Banning it amounts to the same thing as saying you have to speak a bit of English to live here, or you need a smattering of knowledge about Britishness. It's part of the same mad delusion that all can be made one if only there are a few common points and similarities, or that such a path is desirable even if possible (which it isn't).
Let Islam be Islam - it's going to do that anyway whatever the West thinks. The real problem is not Islam itself, or the way that Islam is, but the ludicrous concept that Islam can be a part of the West and will somehow westernise itself to facilitate that.
It won't, and even if it would that is undesirable from both viewpoints. Islam should remain Islam and the West should remain the West, neither should seek to amalgamate themselves into some composite which would destroy the identity of both.
The problem isn't the veil, the veil is a visible symptom to tell us all that something is wrong. The problem isn't even truly Islam. The problem is that Islam is here, where it does not belong, and is here in vast numbers. The problem is that the West thinks we can somehow absorb it into an harmonious paradise of a society just by making it look a bit more like us.
No matter how we dress it up nothing nothing will change the nature of the beast. It's who is wearing the clothes that counts, not whether they're wearing a miniskirt and a crop top or an allover body coffin of a burka.
We should welcome veils and burkas - they are one of the most visible wake up calls we in the West can get as to the future awaiting our nations if we continue down this insane path of multiculturalism and mass colonisation. Hiding that from sight doesn't change in the slightest what is happening, it just allows it to continue to happen with less to grab our eye and bring it to everyones attention.
