What sort of father allows this ?

Written by john of gwent

This afternoon I returned home from a week's holiday in the wilds of Northern England and Scotland and came back down to earth with a bump. Because front and centre on the list of the ten most read stories on the BBC Web site was THIS.
It is the story of a seventeen year old girl who, because of her status as a British Passport Holder, is seen as a most desirable chattel for the provision of an instant entry to the UK to any one of her cousins who she is being forced to marry.
Read it, before the scum that control the BBC come to their senses and strip this article from the site "in the interests of fairness".
And when you have read it, answer me these questions.
What manner of religion can call itself adherent to "the book" of which the believers in all three abrahammic faiths are supposed to be children of while it so derides and belittles the state of matrimony applauded in that book to the point where it considers women not yet past the age of majority nothing more than chattels to be traded or enslaved into marriages they do not want yet risk death if they refuse?
What manner of society encourages such behaviour ?
And most damning of all, and here I speak as the father of two daughters aged 20 and 25, what manner of man allows his daughter to he treated in this way and still calls himself their father ? What manner of eunuch is he who does not stand up to his family on their behalf.
Well, we have the answer, all there on the BBC Web Site.
Read it, before Trevor Phillips' stormtroopers demand the Website editor's head on a platter and the truth of this article consigned to Room 101. That's the BBC version of Room 101, an oubliette into which that must be forgotton is consigned, not the Orwellian torture chamber.
